Hemstreet Second At Running Fit-UDM Invitational

University of Detroit-Mercy senior Kim Hemstreet (Mooretown, ON/St. Patrick’s/Sarnia ASW) came in second individually Saturday at the 16th annual Running Fit-UDM Invitational at Cass Benton Park in Northville. Michigan. The meet included athletes from the University of Michigan, Oakland University, Eastern Michigan and Wayne State.

Only Briana Shook of Toledo was able to beat out Hemstreet, UDM’s All-Horizon League runner. Shook finished Saturday’s 5,000 meter women’s race in a time of 17:36 – the third-fastest clocking in meet history. Shook edged Hemstreet, the only other female runner under 18 minutes, by 22 seconds. Hemstreet’s time set a UDM record on the Cass Benton course.
