Portage, Michigan– Six members of the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track Club competed at the Portage Michigan Cross-country Invitational over the weekend. The Portage meet is the largest high school cross-country meet in the state of Michigan, this year featuring 4410 competitors in total in the various races. David Moore was the top local finisher with his 12^th place finish in the division one boy’s 5 km race with a time of 16:16.7. This was a huge improvement of 1:22 for Moore from last year at this meet.

Lydia Willemse lead the way for Sarnia in the division one girl’s 5 km race with a 17^th place finish and a time of 19:05.5. Willemse was following by Courtney Workman in 46^th place and a personal best time of 19:45.8. Final scorers included Carly Gill (19:56.3/58th), Laura Gill (81st/20:35.7) and Candace Crombeen (82nd/20:36.1).
