2004 Club News

Portage, Michigan– Six members of the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track Club competed at the Portage Michigan Cross-country Invitational over the weekend. The Portage meet is the largest high school cross-country meet in the state of Michigan, this year featuring 4410 competitors in total in the various races. David Moore was the top local finisher with his 12th place finish in the division one boy’s 5 km race with a time of 16:16.7. This was a huge improvement of 1:22 for Moore from last year at this meet.

Lydia Willemse lead the way for Sarnia in the division one girl’s 5 km race with a 17th place finish and a time of 19:05.5. Willemse was following by Courtney Workman in 46th place and a personal best time of 19:45.8. Final scorers included Carly Gill (19:56.3/58th), Laura Gill (81st/20:35.7) and Candace Crombeen (82nd/20:36.1).
