Alyson Kohlmeier wins Gold at Pan Am Games!
Windsor, Ontario

On Friday night on day 1 of the Pan American being held in Windsor, Ontario, Sarnia's own Alyson Kohlmeier got things going for Team Canada, winning their first gold of the competition with her win in the 3000m.  Aly took the lead for the first time at half way and quickly gapped the filed.  Her km splits were 3:09, 3:08, 3:08 to win in 9:25, her personal best outdoors.

Aly performed in front of a 3000+ screaming and cheering spectators which included many of her family, friends and supporters in the crowd, a crowd rarely seen in track and field in Canada and mostly reserved for hockey.  From her high school background in the SWOSSAA conference and competing in Windsor on a regular basis, Alyson was definitely on home track, which makes her win that much more significant.
