Lambton Recap of OFSAA

November 2, 2002 (Port Hope)

     Lambton County had another banner year at the OFSAA Cross Country Championships with 3 team medals and 2 individual medals.  Leading the way with a team gold medal was Northern's Junior Girls Team.  Claire Percival (7), Kara Wark (10), Maggie Lynch (13) and Annie Christie (70) gave Northern the low score of the day with 100 points.  Non-scorer Jamie Sivell was close behind at 86.  Alyson Kohlmeier of St. Patrick's made it a clean sweep for Lambton as she was the individual gold medalist in this division.  St. Christopher finished a respectable sixth if this division.  Team members were:  Lydia Willemse (31), Trish Muddiman (76), Mandy Jansen (92), Anne Stoesser (100) and Andrea Garbaty (135).  There were 225 runners in this division.  Note:  Some history was made in this event as Northern won it's first cross country championship ever.  For Alyson Kohlmeier, this was her third consecutive win which ties her with Nikki Reckman for  the best ever by an LSSAA athlete.

      St. Patrick's ran a strong race in Senior Girls to get the silver medal.  Leading the way was individual silver medalist Amy Kohlmeier.  Chelsey Baxter (37), Nikki Reckman (56), and Kassie Joy (78) were the other scorers for St. Pat's with Laura Moran (81) close behind as a non-scorer.  Katie Andruchow (50) of Northern and Andrea Brouwer (67) of North Lambton competed as individuals in the field of 224 runners.

     St. Christopher was the bronze medalist in a very competitive midget girls division.  Caroline Trieman (28), Amanda Ayres (30), Candace Crombeen (50), and Jaclyn Doyle (62) scored for the Cyclones with Laura Gill (96) being the non-scorer.  Marie-Louise Asselin (13) of Northern competed as an individual in the field of 226 runners.

     Lambton Central was eighth in the Midget Boys Division with Justin Nicol (49), Jordan Tetreault (86), Kody Crombeen (95), Mark Warwick (111) and Richard Lebert (192) making up the team.  David Moore (24) of St. Francois Xavier competed as an individual in the field of 218.

     Russell Christie (14) of Lambton Central and Mike Mott (19) of St. Christopher ran strong races in the field of 228 junior boys.

     Northern's Senior Boys Team finished 17th of 33 teams.  Scoring for the Vikings were:  Doug Currie (11), Nathan King (132), Jeff Brooker (148), Dan Bremner (150), and Graham Percival (153).
