Saturday Nov 2, 2002 (Chicago, Illinois)

   University of Detroit-Mercy senior Kim Hemstreet won the 2002 Horizon League women’s cross country championship Saturday in Chicago.

    Hemstreet dominated the women’s race from the start. She had set the UDM record for the conference race at 17:49 last year, when she finished, third, but beat that Saturday. Hemstreet crossed the finish line in 17:33, a full 17 seconds ahead of Butler runner-up Amber Gascoigne.

Sunday Nov. 3, 2002 (West LaFayette, Indiana)

     University of Wisconsin junior Hilary Edmondson had a strong fourth place finish at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships.  This result was the highest yet in cross country for Edmondson in her three years at U of W.  The race was won by fellow Canadian Michelle Carson competing for Michigan State.
