2007 Results

(Windsor, ON)  Andy Ysebaert topped off his already fantastic year in the shot put by placing third at the National Senior Track and Field Championships. The Texas State thrower stepped up on his last throw with a put of 15.97m to slip past a few close competitors to take the bronze. Andy’s hard work and determination helped him to achieve his goal of winning his first national medal after struggling through injury over the past couple of weeks.

Cole Bloxam finished in 8th place in the same competition to top off a short but successful outdoor season.

Jillian Drouin also competed at the National Championships. The NCAA bronze medallist in the heptathlon finished 6th in the 100m hurdle final in a time of 14.01s. Perdita Felicien won the 100m hurdles (2003 world champion) with Angela Whyte finishing second (ranked 5th in the world) and Priscilla Lopes finishing in third (ranked 14th in the world). Jillian also narrowly missed a medal in the women’s long jump as she placed 5th with a jump of 5.66m. Jillian rounded out the weekend with an excellent of jump of 1.80m in the high jump to finish a strong 6th. Jillian will represent Canada in the high jump at the World University Games (FISU) this coming August in Thailand.

Casey Garbaty finished 8th in the men’s javelin with a throw of 56.40m. Casey is coming off an 11th place finish in the men’s javelin at the Pan American Games last week in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Doug Currie competed in the qualifying rounds of the men’s 1500m and finished strong in an excellent time of 3:52.96.

Junior aged competitor Maggie Mullen finished 6th in the women’s javelin competition with a very respectable throw of 44.32m.

All of the above mentioned athletes are members of the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track and Field Club.
