(Hillsdale,Mich)--Two Sarnia Athletics Southwest athletes competed this past weekend at the Hanson’s Midwest Distance Solution at Hillsdale College. Claire Percival was 6^th in the 3000m Steeplechase in a time of 11:08.62. This performance is a World Junior qualifying time and ranks Claire second in Canada for this event in the under 20 age category.

Alyson Kohlmeier was 8^th in the 800m race with a personal best time of 2:10.62. Two days later, at the Big Blue National Invitational also in Hilldale, Kohlmeier placed 5^th in the 800 metres in a time of 2:11.32.

Alyson’s times over the weekend including her winning performance the previous weekend at the OFSAA high school championships over 1500 metres, proves her fitness level, and secures her selection to Canada’s World Junior Track and Field team in the 1500m. The World Junior Track and Field competition will be held July 13-18 in Grossetto, Italy.
