7. Major Achievements: Outdoor: 800m, 1500m; Indoor: mile, hopefully 3000m

8. Why did you start participating in Track and Field:  My grade 3 teacher, Ms. Grimes, had me race everyone in the class and when I beat all the boys she had me run the 1500m at the county meet. I've been in love with running ever since!

9. What does participating in Track and Field mean to you: As I said, I love to run. Having the ability to be a good runner has brought me so much happiness, success, life lessons and friendships, there aren't many things I'd trade it in for. I have strong intrinsic motivations that drive me towards my goals and it is this type of motivation that I try to never lose hold of. The biggest thing for me is to have balance between running and other things, and I think this makes me a better runner. Being smart about injuries, eating and training is key to a successful runner.

10. To what do you attribute your improvements in the sport:  I definitely credit great coaching and support of family and friends to my success.  Mark has put so much time and effort into my improvement, likely more than any other coach I'll ever have, and for that I am eternally grateful. My parents have also devoted so much time and energy into me and my running and without their support there is no way I would be as success as I am.

11. What is the highlight of your athletic career:  Winning the 2000 junior national 1500m in Montreal.

12. Future Goals:  Running is definitely a part of my future plans. I have many different levels of goals that I have to take step by step. My current goals are to help my team to a top 5 finish at NCAA cross-country this fall. Individually, I would like to qualify for NCAA and eventually medal. Ultimately, I would like to run in an Olympic 1500m final...and, of course, everyone dreams for the gold! You've got to go into every race thinking you can win!

13. Plans after you finish running:  I would like to actually utilize the wonderful degree I'm working so hard for and work in public relations in the health field. But, I'd also like to give back to track and field by coaching and being involved with Athletics Canada.

Personal quote: "You have to lose before you can truly appreciate winning"
