Ontario Indoor Legion Championships

TORONTO--  Members of the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track Club enjoyed good success at the recent Ontario Legion Indoor Track and Field Championships at York University.  The annual championship awarded medals in two age class divisions, 15 years & under, and 17 years & under.
 
Leading the way for the local club was Alyson Kohlmeier, who came away with a gold medal in the 17 & under 1500m with a time of 4:39.28. Leading the race from the very start, Alyson won by 21 seconds to establish a new Ontario Legion meet record in the event.  Kohlmeier also added a silver medal in the 800 metres with a time of 2:17.91, losing by the narrowest of margins.  Kara Wark won a silver in the 15 and under 800m with a time of 2:30.17.  Andy Ysebaert was the club's other medal winner as he placed 3rd in the 17 and under shot put with a heave of 12.56 metres. Both Wark and Ysebaert where competing in their first indoor provincial championship.
 
Several other members of the Sarnia Athletics Southwest that achieved top 6 performances included Claire Percival (5th- 17 and under 1500m, 4th- 3000m), and Maggie Lynch (5th- 17 and under 50m Hurdles).  Also representing the local club where: Kassie Joy, Laura Moran, Amanda Ayers, Ainsley McHenry, Jacyln Doyle, and Candace Crombeen.
