SOUTH BEND, IND— This past weekend, Alyson Kohlmeier of Sarnia, Ontario, the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track Club, and a freshman at the University of Michigan, set a new Canadian Junior record in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:43.87 to finish 4th in the Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame. Kohlmeier’s time betters the previous national mark of 4:45.98 established by University of Michigan teammate Nicole Edwards of Winnipeg, Manitoba set at the Michigan Intercollegiate Meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Jan. 29th.  Earlier in the season, in the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 15th, Edwards had established a new record of 4:46.05, beating the former record of 4:46.65 held by Heather de Geest of British Columbia since 1995.
