2006 Results
(Strathroy) Four athletes from the Sarnia Athletics Southwest track
and field club have qualified for the Ontario Legion track and field
championships taking place in Timmins on July 14 and 15. They were
selected based on their performances at the recent regional meet
held in Strathroy. Maggie Mullen, Shaun Bisson, Jackson Gray and
Derek Drouin each won their event to earn a spot in the
championships. Mullen finished first in the girls under 17 shot put
and javelin, missing her own javelin record by only 6cm.She also
took third in the discus throw. Bisson won the boys under 15, 800m
run. Gray took first in the boys under 15 discus throw, missing the
record by only 2cm. He also finished second in the shot put. Drouin
competed in the boys under 17 high jump and finished first, along
with a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles and a sixth place
finish in the 400m hurdles. Along with their teammates, Tiffany
Holmes and Casey Garbaty had outstanding performances on the
weekend. Holmes broke the girls under 15 shot put record to finish
second, with a throw of 11.82m using the 3kg shot put. Garbaty also
had a record breaking throw in the boys under 17 javelin (700g) to
finish second as well. His throw measured 58.56m. The full results
