Head Coach- Mark MacDonald

Mark is the Head Coach and General Manager of the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track & Field Club.  Mark brings a wealth of knowledge to the club with a University degree in Human Kinetics with a specialization in teaching and coaching. Mark is a high school teacher at Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School and the Lambton-Kent District School Board. Mark's qualifications include Level 3 National Coaching Certificates in middle distance running and Level 2 in sprints, hurdles and jumps. Mark has coached 11 athletes who have qualified to represent Canada as members of the national team. In addition, he has represented Canada as a national team coach in Beijing, China and Ostend, Belgium. As an athlete, Mark was a former O.F.S.A.A medalist at Chesley District High School and a two-time All-Canadian in track and field at the University of Windsor in middle distance running in the early 1990s.  He is strongly influenced by his former coaches: Geordie Farrell (Saugeen Track and Field Club), Peter Grinbergs (Tri-City Track Club) and Dennis Fairall (University of Windsor).
