In the Big Ten Championships held at the University of Iowa, Hilary Edmondson (St. Christopher) won the 3000m in a time of 9:31.75 and the mile in 4:45.05 while competing for Wisconsin. Hilary had previously qualified for the NCAA championships in the mile. Tara Halls (St. Clair) also competing for Badgers was the bronze me! dallist in the 600m with a time of 1:32.27. Sarah Nelson (Northern) finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.79m and ninth in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 11.72m while competing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Ontario University Track and Field Meet was held at York University with Lambton County athletes garnering three medals. Katie Whitehead (LCCVI) and Laura Van Dam (Northern) were first and second in the shot put for Windsor. Both had personal best tosses with Katie throwing 13.13m and Laura throwing 13.08m. Brae Anne McArthur (Northern) was the bronze medallist in the high jump with a personal best jump of 1.69m. She also scored points for Guelph with an eighth place finish in the pentathlon with a pb score of 3018 points. Katie, Laura and Brae Anne will represent their schools at the Canadian University championships in Windsor March 11, 12 and 13.

Other Lambton athletes scoring for their schools were: Chris D'Esterre (Northern) 5th in the 1000m and 6th in the 4 x 800m for Western; Joe Brown (LCCVI) 4th in the 4 x 200m and 5th in the 4 x 400m for Waterloo; Mike McLachlan (St. Pat's) 6th in the long jump for Western; Eric Enders (Northern) 7th in the 4 x 200m for McMaster; Jozina Vanderklok (Northern) 7th in the 4 x 800m for York.
