Shannon and Tara Make School Choices
Shannon O'Hagan and Tara Halls will be taking
their talents to U.S. Division 1 schools this fall. Shannon will
be attending Colgate University in Hamilton, New York on a financial assistance
package. Colgate is a Liberal Arts College in mid state New York.
Their athletic conference is the Patriot Conference. Shannon is a
former National Legion Champion in the high jump and represented Canada
at the first IAAF World Youth Championships. She is a 3 time OFSAA
gold medallist while competing for St. Patrick's High School. Her
personal best in the high jump is 1.76m.
Tara will join ASW athlete Hilary Edmondson on an
athletic scholarship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is a well recognized comprehensive university. Wisconsin
competes in the Big Ten Conference. Tara is a former National Legion
Champion in the 400m and represented Canada at the Pan Am Juniors last
fall bringing home a bronze medal in the 4 x 400m relay. Tara also
was a member of the Ontario team at last summer's Canada Games in London
with a gold medal in the 4 x 400m there. She is a 3 time OFSAA gold
medallist while competing for St. Clair Secondary School. Her personal
best in the 400m is 55.92s.
The coaches and executive wish these athletes all
the best as they further their education and track careers at these fine
schools. Both Shannon and Tara have moved up from track school through
full participation in the Club.
