8. Why did you start participating in Track and Field: I
always did cross country and really liked/like to run.
9. What does participating in Track and Field mean to you:
To me it means doing what not a lot of people are willing to do.
To dedicate yourself for life to the sport of running and always
try to get better and better by running endless amounts of
miles. There is a high level of discipline that comes with it
that I haven’t been able to find in anything else. Also it means
to be persistent no matter what and most often just listen to
yourself.
10. To what do you attribute your improvements in the
sport: My coaches and
competitors along with my own personal dedication made up of let
downs and
accomplishments.
11. What is the highlight of your athletic career: After 2
long years of hard work I finally got to go to OFSAA with my
senior boy’s XC team. The next year we narrowly qualified for
OFSAA but then pulled off an incredible 4th place finish.
On the track, basically, any race where I pb'd, won or just ran
my ass off. I've had more than a few faults in the sport
so anytime that I ran well on the track it was extremely
rewarding. One particular race that comes to mind is the
1500m at LSSAA in my senior year. It wasn't the fastest
but it went exactly the way I had pictured it all season long
and it came after a disastrous Day 1 of competition.
12. Future Goals: Keep improving and keep running with the
same passion I have now through University and beyond as well.
13. Plans after you finish running: Get a drink
14. Inspirational quote: "Tough times don't last but tough
people do." "You can’t burn out if you never catch fire."
"The will to do, the soul to dare"
