Brad Huey wins Canadian Juniors!  Cole Bloxam wins bronze!

SHERBROOKE, QU - This past weekend University of Sherbrooke played host to the Canadian Junior National Track and Field Championships. Young athletes from across the country gathered to compete including 11 athletes from the Sarnia Athletics Southwest Club. Brad Huey won the men’s high jump with a leap of 2.04m on a raining afternoon, while his team mate Derek Drouin finished 6th in the same event. Cole Bloxam came away with a bronze medal in the men’s Shot Put with a put of 15.95 metres.  Maggie Mullen competed well in her double events finishing 6th in the Javelin and 10th in the Shot Put. Keegan Castrillo and Haley Cadwallader ran the 3000m Steeplechase in good time finishing 8th and 12th respectively. A tough field of Javelin throwers included Casey Garbaty with a 10th place finish in the Men’s competition and Emily King an 11th place finish in the Women’s event. Three other Sarnia athletes ran well while representing the local club. Justin Keating and David Moore were competitive in the 100m and 1500m races respectively. Hurdler Adrienne Payne had two good runs in her first Nationals in both the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. Full results for this meet can be found at the following website:
