Sarnia ASW Athletes
Compete at Twi-Light Meets
Sarnia ASW has made several trips to
London this Summer to take part in the Runner’s Choice London Distance Series,
which are a series of Twi-Light meets held at the TD Waterhouse Stadium at the
University of Western Ontario. These meets have attracted some of Ontario’s most
talented runners, including some of our own talented athletes.
June 25th –
RCLDS Meet #4
Sarnia had 3 women compete in the
Women’s 800m. Haley Cadwallader finished fourth in a time of 2:19.85, and
Jillian Drouin was fifth running 2:22.80. Kate Nelles was 9th with a
time of 2:38.4.
Four ASW men competed in the 800m, with Doug Currie leading the team placing 9th
(1:57.28). Matthew Reddy finished 12th (1:58.86), Adam Sawatzky
(2:05.80) and Brandon Huzeyka was 25th (2:13.93).
Andrew Douglas was the lone Sarnia ASW athlete to compete in the Men’s 1500m
finishing 8th in a time of 4:09.38
July 7th – RCLDS
Meet #5
Sarnia ASW’s men showed improvement in
the Men’s 800m as Doug Currie led the team with a 5th place finish,
bettering his time with a 1:56.2. Junior Matthew Reddy placed 9th
with a 1:57.66, which was fast enough to earn him a spot at the Canadian Junior
Championships to be held in BC at the end of the month. Adam Sawatzky also
improved his time running 2:03.
Shaun Bisson competed in the Men’s 5000m, placing fourth with a time of
15:53.22.
July 23rd –
RCLDS Meet #6
Sarnia Athletics Southwest track and
field member Adam Sawatzky set a new personal best time in the 800m run. Adam's
time of 2:02.53 placed him 1st in his heat . The next event on this young
runner's schedule is the OTFA championships. Sawatzky is heading into his grade
11 year at Northern, where he also competes in cross-country and track.
