2006 Club News
Four area athletes represented their schools well at the Big
East and Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
At the Big East Championships in Storrs, Connecticut, Syracuse
sophomore, Jillian Drouin (St. Pat's) had personal best in
5 of 7 events in finishing second in the heptathlon with a school record score
of 5287. Jillian was also fourth in the high jump with a jump of
1.75m which qualifies her for the NCAA regional in that event. Notre
Dame junior, Amy Kohlmeier (St. Pat's) was third in the
5000m in a time of 16:41.69. Amy also qualified for the
regional with this time. Cincinnati senior, Jocelyn Gibson (Lambton Central)
ran a personal best of 2:11.71 to finish ninth in the 800m.
At the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Florida State freshman,
Lydia Willemse (St. Christopher) was second in the
3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 10:27.01.
This time qualifies Lydia for the regional in that event. Lydia was also
named ACC Freshman of the Year for her performance in the steeplechase.
